The Old Arabi Neighborhood Association (OANA) is excited to announce the return of its annual Sugar Fest on Saturday, September 27, from 12:00–7:00 PM at The Aycock Barn, 409 Aycock Avenue, Arabi, LA.
This free, family-friendly festival celebrates Old Arabi’s rich history and community spirit with something for everyone:
Narrated trolley tours of the Old Arabi historic and cultural arts district
Dessert baking competition sponsored by Domino Sugar with guest judge Malik Mingo of Great Day Louisiana
Donut-eating contest for kids and adults courtesy of Gerald’s Donuts
A kids’ activity tent hosted by Home Depot
Sugar giveaway compliments of Domino Sugar
Festivalgoers will also enjoy great food and drinks, arts and crafts vendors, and a full lineup of live music:
1:30 PM – Big Daddy O (Owen Tufts), blues and soulful roots
3:30 PM – Eric Bolivar, bringing his dynamic, eclectic sound
5:30 PM – Irene Sage, closing the evening with her melodic stylings
“We have so many great things happening here in Old Arabi, and the Sugar Fest allows us to recognize the past and design for the future, all while celebrating in the present,” said Event Chairman Ray Lauga.
This year’s presenting sponsors include Domino Sugar, the Meraux Foundation, and the St. Bernard Office of Tourism / Tourist Commission.
