Ribbon Cutting Held for Pot Twist Jamaican and Creole Restaurant in Chalmette
CHALMETTE, LA (October 8, 2025) — St. Bernard Parish proudly celebrates the grand opening of Pot Twist, the parish’s first Jamaican and Creole restaurant, located at 1801 East St. Bernard Hwy. Bringing the bold flavors of Jamaica together with the soulful tastes of Louisiana, Pot Twist lives up to its slogan: “Jamaican spice, Creole soul.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce marked the official opening, with attendees including representatives from the Parish President’s Office, Sheriff James Pohlmann, Councilmember Ryan Randall, Chamber Executive Director Rhett Pritchard, and numerous community members and local business owners.
Pot Twist is the vision of Darryl Evans, a proud parish resident originally from Jamaica, along with co-owners Chandra Morrison and Lakisha McKell. After settling in Meraux years ago, Evans always dreamed of sharing his heritage cuisine with his adopted home.
“When people would hear my accent, they’d ask where they could find authentic Jamaican food,” said Evans. “Now, I can proudly tell them right here in The Parish.”
Featuring a menu full of traditional Jamaican favorites, Pot Twist offers a fresh and flavorful addition to the parish’s diverse culinary scene. The building, which has been carefully restored over the past several years, now serves as a welcoming space for families and food lovers to enjoy together.
Pot Twist is now open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 1801 E. St. Bernard Hwy. in Chalmette. For more information, visit www.pottwistnola.com.
